Incredibly relaxing trip into electronica. I like Imprenta p2 where angelic instrumentation is lightly contrasted with rougher distorted sounds, very clever synthesis of audio. They grow with each release. Dig In
Favorite track: Imprenta (Part 2).
The French duo take their inspiration from their travels and take the names of their tracks from the towns they have visited. And so they came up with the title Places, a coming together of six destinations, six atmospheres: from the Italian village of Marta to call Imprenta in Granada.
Keeping in tune with their first EP Distances, Il:lo’s sound is a blend of acoustic and synthetic melodies. Difficult to categorise, it could well be perceived as heavy as it is light, with its sombre bass lines as well as floaty brass tones.
On this EP, Il:lo worked with the talented Brain Blake on the track Reine and featured Gregoire Pitt’s trumpet skills in conversation with Dejan Dejado’s accordion in Marta.
I honestly don't remember HOW i came across this album but it's been one of my favorite underground records for years now. With the recent release of Soul Food 2 I figured it was finally time to pay for this masterpiece of sick beats and I can only say I'm sorry I never did it sooner Al M. Nips
